MANAGER: UCDP & IRPQP PROJECTS (Grade 15) 

3 YEAR CONTRACT

The Manager’s role is to oversee and organize all elements of the University Capacity Development Program (UCDP) in accordance with the approved Ministerial Plan and DHET regulations. They will assist the Director of Institutional Research, Planning, and Quality Promotion (IRPQP) by monitoring UCDP initiatives and submitting progress reports as needed. Additionally, the Manager will contribute to other IRPQP projects, focusing on institutional research and reporting.

Qualification and experience 

A Bachelor’s degree with Honors (preferably a Master’s degree), along with around three years of related experience, which should encompass the following:

  • Project management, coordination, and reporting within a Higher Education setting.
  • Prior involvement in monitoring and evaluation.
  • Previous experience dealing with institutional effectiveness and management systems.
  • Proficiency in working with quantitative data, including collecting, organizing, analyzing, and presenting it.
  • Capability to lead and manage tasks within a division.
  • Additional value will be given to candidates with prior expertise in post-secondary education, particularly in surveillance, organization, and documentation.
  • Exposure to finance and budgeting, including familiarity with financial principles.

The Technology Transfer Manager (Grade 15) reports to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor: 

In this position focused on research, creativity, and forming strategic collaborations, the supervisor is accountable for overseeing the safeguarding of intellectual property (IP) for novel ideas and managing all processes related to IP registration, including patent applications. Moreover, the Technology Transfer Coordinator will have the responsibility of protecting innovations using different arrangements like disclosure contracts, material exchange contracts, confidentiality agreements, technology advancement and partnership contracts, collaborative venture contracts, and licensing contracts. Additionally, the manager’s duties include defining and obtaining necessary approvals for commercialization strategies, implementing those strategies, negotiating license deals, and establishing spinouts. 

The Manager: Technology Transfer will collaborate with the Deputy Vice-Chancellor: 

Research, Innovation, and Strategic Partnerships and the Technology Transfer Steering Committee to solidify and enhance the Technology Transfer activities.

Qualification and Experience:

You must have a masters degree in Science or in engineering along with an experience of 3 years; 

  • Technology transfer and Commercialisation of innovations.
  • Evaluation of innovation and IP management.
  • Data-base creation, and data management.
  • Project-management experience.

The position of Principal Technical Officer is available in the Department of Zoology and Entomology

Qualification and Experience:

A relevant Higher Certificate (NQF 5) or Diploma (preferably an NQF 6 qualification) and approximately 3 years of relevant experience.

The experience should include:

  • Minimum of one year in a managerial role or possession of a certificate in supervision.
  • Prior background in welding, assembling, and machining would be advantageous.
  • Having prior background and/or proven skills in technical planning would be beneficial.
  • Having prior background and/or proven skill in automobile upkeep and fixing would also be advantageous.
  • Prior background and/or exhibited proficiency in electronics would be beneficial.
  • Prior background and/or exhibited former involvement in health and safety would be advantageous.
  • Past familiarity in carpentry would be advantageous.
  • The candidate must hold a legitimate code 08 driver’s permit for at least two years.

ASSISTANT MANAGER:  ELECTRICAL SERVICES(Grade 13)

 Qualification and Experience:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent (NQF level 4) education.
  • Qualified Electrician with a passed electrician trade test (NQF level 3) and registered as an Installation Electrician with the Department of Labour.
  • Approximately 6 years of relevant experience, including:
  • 3 years of previous management experience leading a large team.
  • Previous experience in MV (Medium Voltage) and LV (Low Voltage) electrical work.
  • Advantageous to have experience in kitchen and laundry equipment, including lighting repairs.
  • Experience in general electrical repair work and proficiency in using electrical instrumentation.
  • Capability to perform tasks at elevated levels, like climbing stairs, working on scaffolds, and utilizing elevated work platform . Individuals with acrophobia are not suitable for this position.
  • An up-to-date Occupational Medical Health Certificate or willingness to undergo the examination before receiving an offer (as it is a legislative requirement and an ongoing job requirement).
  • Advantageous to have experience in renewable energy and standby power systems.
  • Advantageous to have experience working in a Higher Education environment.
  • A Supervision qualification would be beneficial.
  • Being registered as a Electrician Specialist with the Labour Department provide a considerable benefit..

There are two Manager positions available in Academic Recruitment and Staffing and Support Recruitment and Staffing. The Managers assist the Senior Manager in overseeing the daily operations and staff management of either the Academic or Support section to ensure smooth functioning. Qualification and Experience :

Manager: Recruitment and Staffing

A relevant B. Degree (with a relevant major in Psychology, Industrial/Organizational Psychology or Human Resources) and experience includes:

Required qualifications and experience include:

  • Broad exposure to various HR areas such as Recruitment and Selection, HR Administration, Industrial Relations, Training and Development, Remuneration, Performance Management, HR IT systems, and Well-being.
  • Previous experience in a similar-sized and complex organizational environment, preferably in a university setting.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Senior HR Practitioner.
  • Experience utilizing HR information technology systems to execute HR tasks.
  • Previous experience collaborating with middle management within an organization.

Senior HR Practitioner

A suitable Bachelor’s degree (ideally in Psychology, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, or HR ) and approximately 6 years of pertinent experience, which should encompass:

  • Prior involvement as an HR Specialist
  • A detailed familiarity with relevant job-related experience.

Assistant Manager: Food Services

Qualification and Requirements:

The lowest requirement for a National Diploma (NQF 6) in Hospitality Management.
Approximately 4 years of relevant experience, including:

  • A minimum of three years of practice collaborating with personnel in a supervisory capacity.
  • Completion of approved practical training in an Industrial Catering Facility, including hands-on practical experience in industrial cooking, physical stock-taking, and on-the-job training of catering staff.
  • Previous experience with current Food Services practices, specifically in high-volume food production at multiple sites.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license.

Qualification and Experience:

  • We are seeking an Associate Professor who holds a CA(SA) qualification at the time of application. The ideal candidate should have either a Master’s degree or a PhD in Management Accounting and Finance or a closely related field.
  • We require the candidate to have professional experience in Management Accounting and Finance or an equivalent area.
